Hotel De La Paix up for virtuoso 'best of the best' award

Leading luxury travel network Virtuoso has named Hotel de la Paix a finalist in the ‘Most Socially Responsible’ category of its prestigious annual ‘Best of the Best’ hotel awards. With a growing reputation amongst luxury travellers following its pioneering community initiatives - such as the US$50,000 rebuilding of its Sewing School for ‘at risk’ young Khmer women - Hotel de la Paix was chosen from over 900 hotels, and is the only Cambodian hotel to reach the final stage.

Virtuoso’s ‘Most Socially Responsible’ award recognises hotels that are “dedicated to making a difference through innovative local or global environment programs that make the world a better place”.

Hotel de la Paix is wholeheartedly committed to helping the local community, taking a leading role in numerous charitable projects: In recent years the hotel teamed up with MasterCard to donate almost 800 bicycles to local orphanages, and to raise US$50,000 to completely rebuild its Sewing School, providing education and employment opportunities for needy local women.

The hotel also provides an international platform for emerging Khmer artists through regular exhibitions at its pioneering Arts Lounge gallery; raises money for local charities like Cambodia Self Help Demining and the Sangkheum Centre and Green Gecko orphanages; and encourages donations by guests through its community connections programme.
