CATA signs MoU with Indian firm

The Cambodia Association of Travel Agents (CATA) signed a memorandum of understanding with India’s SRAM & MRAM to increase the flow of tourists between the countries.

The MoU was signed on Wednesday by Chay Sivlin, president of CATA, and Sailesh Lachu Hiranandani, SRAM & MRAM director.

SRAM & MRAM Group is a conglomerate with branches in Cambodia, South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bahrain, Georgia, and Bangladesh. It is present in a wide range of sectors, from agriculture to artificial intelligence and foreign exchange management.

Ms Sivlin told Khmer Times that the agreement focuses on religious and wedding tourism with the goal of strengthening tourism ties between the two countries.

“We have signed this agreement to promote Cambodia and our members. SRAM & MRAM is a big company and can help us promote Cambodia in the Indian market.”

She said SRAM & MRAM has 21 offices across India and extensive experience organising religious events.

Ms Sivlin said there is a lot of room for growth as the number of Indian tourists that visit Cambodia is still small.

“Not many Indians come to Cambodia because the countries are not well connected by air and there is a very limited offer of tourism products that appeal to Indian tourists.”

She said CATA and SRAM & MRAM are now preparing a Hindu ceremony at a Cambodian temple to attract Indian tourists.
