All casinos to be temporarily shut on April 1 amid COVID-19 pandemic

Prime Minister Hun Sen said today that all casinos across the Kingdom will be shut down from April 1 to stem the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a press conference at the National Assembly today, Mr Hun Sen said that all casinos will be shuttered on Wednesday to curb the virus in the Kingdom.

“We order all casinos to be closed down in the Kingdom from 11:59pm on April 1, 2020,” Mr Hun Sen said.

“Why do we allow them to operate until April 1? Why don’t we implement it tonight? It is because casino employers need to solve the issues with their employees.”

He said the Ministry of Finance needs to deal with casino owners regarding the closing order.
