The state-owned Angkor Enterprise has reopened the Chong Khneas Tourism Port following the completion of renovation works since the port’s licence was cancelled by the provincial authority in July last year.

In a statement issued on February 13, the Angkor Enterprise, which manages the entrance pass sales of Angkor temples, informed all the national and international public, tour operators and tourists of the reopening of the port service.

The enterprise will start selling boat tickets to visit the Tonle Sap lake area at Chung Khnies Tourism Port from the date of notification, it said.

The ticket price is $7 for national and international tourists, citing that a small boat has a capacity of eight people and a large boat 45 people.

The reopening tourism service of Chung Khnies Tourism Port will be better offered to tourists compared to the port being under the private sector, said Tourism Ministry spokesman Top Sopheak.

“Under Angkor Enterprise with collaboration with many relevant ministries, the new service of Chung Khnies  Tourism Port will be better because the enterprise has been renovated and upgraded to better serve tourists,” he said.

It is a new product in the tourism sector in Siem Reap province with domestic tourism increasing in number, he added.

Besides visiting ancient temples, tourists have an alternative choice to visit natural lakes too, he said.
